Sayaka: Yes, we are. Our start is the same. She looks a bit more childish than I am, but she is really good at communicating with others. I am always watching her back. We’re complete opposites on different paths..but I look up to her.

Sayaka: When I see her work hard, I work harder too. When she sends me “Hey, I got a part in a drama”, I think honestly, “I’ll work harder too!” I want to tell her more things!

Announcer: You can tell each other anything!

Sayaka: We can. She fixes me too! This last birthday…I’m really bad at replying to texts and emails, so I don’t really reply. But Oshima Yuko says “When you become an adult, you should care about your relationships with others. If you’re not gonna go, tell them. All these things lead back to you.” Other members would ask me why I didn’t reply, but I sort of ignored them, thinking that they just knew. But on my birthday, Yuko told me that, and I immediately got home and replied. After that, I started to interact better with people -laughs- But what Yuko says really sticks with you. 

Announcer: That’s good to reply! Yuko can really be straight with you. 

Sayaka: That’s why being complimented by her is great. She was a child actor before AKB, so having her compliment me.  She’ll compliment me or give me constructive criticism and I’ll watch her dramas and I’ll tell her my thoughts too. 

Second part:

Announcer: You said you were opposites but aren’t there similarities between you two?

Yuko’s comment: A good friend and rival. 

Sayaka: We talk about out future with AKB and outside of it together. 

Announcer: That’s important. 

Sayaka: It is. AKB is deep and the entertainment world is wide…we talk about how to bring out the best in us. 

Announcer: It’s definitely tough to last, but you never notice when you’re trying so hard with others, but when you’re alone, you suddenly are left to think about your future. 

Sayaka: Everyone’s moving towards their dreams, but you get called out on things you never notice yourself.

Sayaka: Did she write ‘muscle?’

A. Iron - No matter what happens, she never falters and always pushes her will through. When she meets someone with same amount of passion as her, she always tries to match it. 

Sayaka: Wow. 

Everyone: That’s deep.

Sayaka: She sounds 50. 

One critique of Sayaka

A. She gets down too easily. 

Sayaka: Oh that happens.

Announcer: Even for an iron lady?

Sayaka: I am too hard on myself. Like, ‘Oh, I couldn’t say this’ and whatnot. 

Announcer: Are you quick to recover?

Sayaka: Yuko makes me recover with her positivity.

Yuko’s message: Sayaka is someone that I would have liked to meet even if we weren’t in AKB48. A good rival and someone who understands me well. I want to be with someone who continually pushes herself and others like that. I am thankful I met someone whom I support no matter what. 

Let’s run towards the top together.

Lastly, her soft skin is number 1 in AKB!

Sayaka: AKB isn’t a normal idol group that’s for sure. We sometimes have teams get scrambled up, and you really need to be strong to last. But that’s why having someone is important. Senbatsu or no senbatsu, working together towards a dream is something that will never change.
